Paul Revere
Revere retired at the age of 76 in 1811. Two years later Gilbert Stuart painted portraits of the famous patriot and his second wife Rachel who was in failing health at the time and died later that year. In 1823, five years after Paul Revere's death, Chester Harding made copies of the Stuart portraits. Harding's portraits stayed in the family for generations.
