The Tiffany and La Farge stained glass windows were originally commissioned for the Mount Vernon Congregational Church in Boston in the late 1890s.

In the 1970s the congregation merged with another nearby church, leaving behind its building and in 1975 the windows were donated to the Worcester Art Museum saving them from subsequent ruin caused by a fire that destroyed all but the facade of the Mount Vernon Congregational Church in 1978.
